1 TRADEMARK: Welcome to the Tastemakers Legal Family

Welcome to the Tastemakers Legal family, I’m genuinely honored to support you on this next powerful step in your business journey.

Choosing to pursue a federal trademark isn’t just a legal formality. It’s an act of leadership. You’re protecting your brand, your legacy, and the future you’re building and that deserves to be celebrated.

What to Expect Next

Here’s a quick overview of the process ahead, so you know what to expect & when:

1. Schedule Your Official Client Onboarding Call

We'll spend an hour reviewing specific business information related to your trademark filing, including class description and important dates. Please fill out the Trademark Client Intake Form here and book your Onboarding Call here.

Note: if you’ve completed a Business Legacy Planning Session, you do not need to schedule an onboarding call.

2. Clearance Search (2–3 weeks or less)

We’ve already begun or will soon begin your comprehensive clearance search. This step is essential for identifying risks and making sure your mark is legally strong before filing.

  • If risks come back, we’ll review them together and talk about strategy.
  • Please note: the search results are only considered fresh for 14 days. If more time passes before we file, we’ll need to run another search at a discounted rate of $650, which will be charged to your card on file, if relevant.

3. Website Proof Requirement
In most cases, we’ll need clear screenshots of your website showing your trademark connected to your actual goods or services. If you’re still getting your website ready, no worries I’m here to help guide you on what’s needed.

4. Filing + Timeline
Once everything’s ready and the remaining balance is paid (if relevant), we’ll move forward with filing your trademark with the USPTO based on the Questionnaire you submitted. Please note that if you're using a 3 month payment plan, we can file your application before your final payment.

From there, things slow down a bit:

  • It typically takes 6–9 months for your application to be assigned to an Examining Attorney.
  • If we receive an Office Action (a formal issue or question from the USPTO), we’ll notify you; those responses are billed separately per your engagement letter.

If no issues arise, your mark will move to the publication stage, and then (fingers crossed!) toward registration.

Staying in Touch

You’ll receive helpful trademark tips and updates from us via our newsletter and rest assured, we’ll reach out directly if there’s any movement on your application.

We also offer additional support through our Trademark Rescue Lab (for urgent pivots or rebranding) and Post-Registration Maintenance services, so you’re covered at every stage of brand growth.

If you know another business owner who needs protection, we’d love your referral. It means the world.

I look forward to representing you and helping you protect and grow your brands!
